HERITAGE – VALUES – RESPECT
Guy Albert Cattin, owner of the family business in 6th generation draws his know-how from a heritage that is deeply anchored in the watchmaking tradition of the Swiss Jura, embracing every stage in completion of the product: from design to production through to distribution and marketing. CATTIN & CIE is the only Swiss watchmaker family business to have developed and produced masterpieces on a continuous basis for over 160 years.
Georges Ignace Cattin, farmer-watchmaker, was born in 1785. He became the first in a line of perennial master watchmakers. He was followed by his son, Constant Cattin, born in 1818, founder of CATTIN & CIE in 1858. The company was then directed by Numa Cattin in 3rd generation, born in 1861, Armand and Maurice Cattin(4th generation, born in 1885 and 1887 respectively) and Guy Cattin in 5th generation, born 1932 and father of Guy Albert Cattin, the current owner. CATOREX was created an registered in 1957 by the present owner’s father in response to requests from niche players who appreciated the company’s price-quality ratio.
Guy Albert Cattin took over the family business in 1994. His son Cyril Cattin represents the 7th generation. A new chapter of the family’s watchmaking history is being written as you read these lines.
2019 will indeed mark the new era with 3 radical changes:
> Introduction of a new margin policy on all CATOREX collections and models
> Initiation of direct community relationship over the CATOREX e-shop including the newest collections as well as earlier models, some of them vintage, and over the CATOREX social network.
> Launch of a innovative business model, collection and company in autumn this year including retail and digital selling.
Guy’s goal is to offer quality Swiss manufactured timepieces based on a realistic pricing policy without shortcutting the retailers: Back to where it all began… Follow us on our trip back to the future…

AWAKENING THE SOUL OF WATCHMAKING
NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM
Over the past two years a new management team, headed by Guy A. Cattin defined goals and strategies for CATOREX, realising that change is not a choice but an inevitable must. Change is indeed a leading string of the present company DNA and reflects our team’s own DNA and convictions. We embrace transformation and fully live it. After over 160 years of family and industry legacy and structures, we found it extremely difficult to break with established rules, question principles and adopt new paradigms. But it was worth every discussion and controversy within our team to get where we are now.
“I took over Cattin & Cie S.A. in 1994 and held the position as its Chief Executive Officer ever since. Today I see my purpose much more in leading entrepreneurial change. Before joining our family business, I completed my business studies at HEC Lausanne and gained unbelievably valuable experience in several companies and industries. As the representative of the 6th generation of our watchmaking family, I see change as an indispensable driver for the sustainable success of my heritage. Thrilled and driven by the fascination of Swiss watchmaking and craftmanship history, I’m determined to hand over our sustainably transformed legacy to the 7th generation.”
Pascal D. Staub | Experience Design Officer (EDO) | @pds_mgmt
“I joined the team in June 2017 and started as Chief Strategy Officer and challenger, enabling change and transformation processes from an out-of-the-box perspective. Establishing an uncompromising, customer-centric corporate culture to generate enthusiasm through business philosophy, products and customer experiences is my purpose and my task. I have been an entrepreneur, consultant and board member for holistic customer and brand experiences since 1996. Some 20 years and 300 projects later I am fascinated to weave my experience into the magical radiance of Swiss quality watchmaking. “
Suzanne Rouden | Community Journey Officer (CJO) | @RoudenComm
“A communication consultant for over 20 years for different industries, including the Swiss watch industry, I specialised in strategic digital transformation processes over the past years. I accepted with enthousiasm Guy’s offer to put my experience at the service of his venture and support sustainable change for the sake of the continuation of a long-lasting family tradition in one of the most beautiful industries. Ethics, authenticity and transparence are the DNA strings that have been vibrating in all of us from the beginning of our common journey.”
“I joined Cattin & Cie 18 years ago and have always worked in “back-end” of the company. I am thrilled to be part of this new venture which opens new perspectives to operations and logistics. Adapting to digitalisation is a huge challenge, requiring an open spirit to learn, time, dedication and precision. I am ready to take it!”
Cyril Cattin, 7th generation | Digital Challenge Officer (DCO) | @CattinCyril
“Over the past two years I became conscious of the challenges the watch industry was going through. Digital transformation started hitting and disrupting established structures and business practices here too. Being a digital native, I wondered how these parameters could possibly adapt to social transformation. When I co-managed the production of our film “Awakening the Soul of Watchmaking” I understood where the journey was meant to lead. Right now, I am a learning 7th generation, but I am already convinced that my father, myself and our team will fulfil more than the dreams of all our ancestors and go on for another stretch…”
